We’ve made it through another week, and you know what that means… it’s First Line Friday! Today I’m featuring Charles Martin’s newest release, The Letter Keeper.

The Letter Keeper by Charles Martin
The Basics
Title: The Letter Keeper
Author: Charles Martin
Publication Date: June 8, 2021
Series: Murphy Shepherd (Book 2 of 3)
Genre: Contemporary Christian
My Rating: 5 Stars
From the Back Cover:
Combining heart-wrenching emotion with edge-of-your-seat tension, Charles Martin explores the true power of sacrificial love.
He shows up when all hope is lost.
Murphy Shepherd has made a career of finding those no one else could—survivors of human trafficking. His life’s mission is helping others find freedom.
But then the nightmare strikes too close to home .
When his new wife, her daughter, and two other teenage girls are stolen, Murphy is left questioning all he has thought to be true. With more dead ends than leads, he has no idea how to find those he loves.
After everything is stripped away, love is what remains.
Hope feels lost, but Murphy is willing to expend his last breath trying to bring them home.
My Thoughts
Charles Martin’s unique, powerful writing style is on full display in The Letter Keeper – it gets to the point, keeps the story moving, and packs an emotional punch. In this book, we pick up where The Water Keeper left off, with Summer, Angel, and Ellie starting a new life in Freetown. Meanwhile, Murphy continues making enemies as he rescues more children from traffickers. This book also dives into more of his backstory, from his childhood to how he met Bones and found his calling. Now he faces his most dangerous mission yet, with the highest stakes – rescuing the women he loves. The fierce, sacrificial love Murphy shows in his fight against evil is a beautiful picture of the lengths Christ has gone to rescue us. Suspense, drama, action, and a powerfully emotional story are all wrapped up in this one book – I highly recommend it and can’t wait for the next book to round out the trilogy!
Now it’s your turn! Please share the first line of the book you’re reading in the comments below. Don’t forget to head to Hoarding Books to see what first lines other bloggers are sharing, or to share your own!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I’ve wanted to read this author for a while, now to find the time to squeeze him in!
This week I’m featuring The Heart’s Charge by Karen Witemeyer
Llano, Texas. Spring 1894
When Mark Wallace left Gringolet two days ago to deliver a prize gelding to a wealthy rancher west of Llano, he never dreamed he’d be called upon to deliver a baby too.
I hadn’t read any of his books either, until this series! That first line definitely makes me want to know more 😊 Thanks for sharing!
I do not read a lot of male authors, so I have not read anything by him. This sounds really good! My first line is: “Another customer, the tenth this morning, approached the check-out counter.” It’s from Serena’s Song by Livia Verrell.
He is probably one of my favorite male authors! Thanks for sharing, happy reading 😊
I enjoy Charles Martin’s books, but I haven’t read this one. Today, I’m sharing the first line from Pearl’s Promise by Edwina Kiernan. “Mr. Stratton is married? And to a woman of ill repute!”

That’s a great first line! Hope you have a wonderful weekend 😊
Happy Friday!
I’m currently reading #Moonstruck by Sarah Wilson so I’ll share a line from there:
“Instead of letting myself sit there and wallow, I drove to the grocery store and loaded up on enough junk food to feed my entire family.”
Hope you have a great weekend. Happy reading! 😀❤📚
Love it! 😉 Happy reading!
