Title: Called to Protect by Lynette Eason
Series: Book 2 in the Blue Justice Series
Genre: Christian romantic suspense
My Rating: 4.5/5
From the back cover: After being dumped by her fiancé, Chloe St. John has decided that the only male she likes is her K-9 German shepherd partner, Hank. But being over the whole romance thing has perks–like giving full attention to her job. Attention she’s definitely going to need because a case of human trafficking with connections to her missing cousin just landed in her lap.
Deputy US Marshall Blake MacCallum is in a race against the clock to rescue his kidnapped daughter when Chloe and Hank are asked to be a part of the task force assembled to bring down the traffickers. Chloe finds herself attracted to the silent, suffering man. But can she trust him? And can Blake trust himself around this firecracker of a woman?
Buckle in. This fast and furious ride will have your heart pumping from the very start.
This is second book in Lynette Eason’s Blue Justice series, and I liked it even better than the first one! The story follows the St. Johns, a law enforcement family we were introduced to in the last book. This book focuses on one of the sisters, Chloe, but also gives us glimpses of the other family members.
One of my favorite parts of this book is the great characters! I thought the relationship and budding romance between Chloe and Blake was handled really well. I also loved reading about Chloe’s K-9 partner, Hank – he played an integral role in every step of the investigation, and it was interesting to learn a little bit more about that part of law enforcement.
This is not a typical suspense novel! There are unique elements throughout, from the situation Blake faces with his kidnapped daughter, to the plot that revolves around human trafficking. Lynette Eason does a great job with that tough subject matter, and with the action – it’s hard to stop after “just one more chapter!” This is a great book to add to your summer reading list.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review. Thank you, Revell Books!
